I visited the CV-2008 show. Modec certainly made their presencve felt. Not just on their own stand and outside, but with additional vehicles on other stands.

But the thing which surprised me - and pleased me - was the sheer number of companies now making electric vehicles. At last year's show there were just two - Modec, and their bigger rival Smith Electric Vehicles. This time there were at least six.

Smith EV have delivered about 300 of their all-electric vans and trucks (the Newton, and the Edison) and were showing two new models - the Ampere and the Faraday. Both built in cooperation with Ford. Plus a 15-seat electric minibus. Modec's display included their very impressive looking UPS delivery van. LDV had no electric version of their Maxus van range on show but apparently will have it on sale this summer. A company called ZEV were offering electric versions of the Peugeot Boxer van range and an electric Renault Lobus 20-seater bus.

Maybe we are still 2 or 3 years away from all being able to buy affordable practical electric cars, but it looks like the concept has already caught on in the commercial vehicles field.

A Plasma TV vs LCD TV: Which one will you prefer

Plasma TV and LCD TV each have their own applications and use with both advantages and disadvantages and the decision to buy which one will depend on your needs.

I just cannot agree with the comment that satnav systems are a distraction. My own considerable experience with satnav is that it leaves me free to keep my eyes on traffic instead of hunting for directions on roadside signs.
Satnav systems cannot be equated with in-car entertainment which may, for a variety of reasons not associated with the driving task in hand, take over part of the thought and thinking process required to drive a car safely.
